Missouri could be the first state to execute transgender woman
Amber McLaughlin, 49, is a transgender female and is scheduled to be executed with lethal injection on Tuesday following being found guilty of murdering a former lover in 2003.
Missouri could be the first state to execute a transgender person in the United States, unless the governor of the state grants clemency as per reports.
McLaughlin was involved in a relationship with the 45 year old Beverly Guenther before transitioning and often showed up in a workplace at St. Louis where Guenther was employed.
McLaughlin was ultimately found guilty of murder in the first degree at the time of his trial in 2006. He was sentenced in the death penalty after a jury was unable to agree over the punishment, AP reported
